That wouldn't make up for it... :eyes:

I'd rather have a smaller thrash band on the Sophie stage who will likely play 30-40mins of thrash than Sepultura who'll likely play 10-15mins of thrash and then 25 mins of their other stuff.

To add to the list of bands who have recently finishing or will soon be finishing a tour
Dr Living Dead, Rezet, Chromanic, Nile, Terrorizer, Exarsis, Pestilence

I'd be happy with some decent folk/thrash/doom/power metal. Exodus, Attic, Blues Pills, Blood Ceremony, Finntroll, Korpiklaani, Turisas, Rhapsody, Helloween, Running Wild, Sacred Reich, Electric Wizard, Pallbearer, Nebula, Primal Fear, Iced Earth, or even someone like Rock Goddess for a heritage band.

Something I can have a sing along to would be good, there's not much like that beyond Priest and Doro thus far.

Also if we must have hardcore bands these days can we actually have some good ones, and not just a variation on the frankly rubbish Hatebreed. Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, DOA, Broken Bones, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, DRI etc would be much better.

I have a feeling today's announcement is going to a pretty small one. As far as I can see they haven't even mentioned that it's happening anywhere on the official social media pages. If they were going to announce some big names, surely they'd want to create some hype beforehand

Some decent ones there for the Sophie stage.

Another non-metal band for the main stage.

I really like Amaranthe, the only other one I've heard of is Mantar after they were booked but didn't like the sound of them. Voyager, Mortishead, Act of Defiance & King Leviathan sound like they could all be my bag though.

Delighted to see King Leviathan make it to the Sophie stage following their superb New Blood showing a few years back. Get to see them quite a bit in Brighton, they'll put on a good show.

- Accept: Only one UK date on the 8th Feb and on the European festival circuit during the summer.

- Body Count: On par with Kreator and Arch Enemy on the Graspop poster, possible Saturday special guest?

- Exodus and/or Sepultura: To make up for the lack of thrash so far!

- Orange Goblin and/or COC: As token stoner band.

- Madball: Seems as we always have a hardcore band, although may already have enough with ST and Jasta.

- Powerwolf/Amaranthe/Marduk: All three appearing at both fests.

Also Evil Scarecrow lol.

As per usual we're sat here hoping for decent names when it'll probably be Evil bloody Scarecrow on the main stage somewhere along with a host of nobodies for the Sophie stage...

What did I say? Replace Evil Scarecrow with Amaranthe and looks like I was spot on. When are we gonna learn not to get our hopes up...

Amaranthe are one of those bands which should totally be my thing, but I've never bothered to check out. I'll be correcting that.

Ingested I've not seen in almost a decade, but I remember them being very good.

Mortishead I saw on the New Blood a couple of years ago, they were pretty poor, so I think I'll be giving them a miss.

Dead Label I'm sure I've seen at Bloodstock before and wasn't very impressed, but I can't find them on old line-ups. I'm either being blind or mis-remembering.

Mantar I'm happy to see again, was disappointed when they pulled out last year.

King Leviathan I missed on the New Blood when they played last, but have seen since and been impressed.

Voyager and Act of Defiance I've never heard of before, but both sound like my kind of thing from the descriptions.

So, pretty good for me overall. The Sophie heavy announcements usually are.

Dead Label played the Sophie in 2015, between The Izuna Drop & Villainy.

Heard of most of them but don't know anyone but Amaranthe's music.

Voyager makes this announcement. Melodic prog metal from Austrialia. They were great last year in Manchester, and 'Ghost Mile' was in my top 10 albums for 2017.

Nothing I've heard of on this announcement. But to be honest, I'd rather that than have an announcement with bands I know I don't like. Could potentially make a new discovery. Also never knew that Act of Defiance has Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover on guitar and drums respectively. I imagine they'll be right up my street
