It'll make no difference, if anything it's more a token gesture that'll do little. 1 extra lane offers 2(?) additional people to process punters. I'm going to prepare for another crappy start of the festival; I just hope the heatwave dies down by BOA, that 2 hour queue in the heat will be killer.

Yeah and it will also have to contend with them having raised the capacity to 18000 this year

1 extra lane to deal with a few thousand extra people? Greeeeeat

(don't know all the details) Would be good to know the reasons why they aren't increasing the gates as much, personally I would say add 5-8 extra lanes temporarily for the peak time and then taper it down as the flow slows.

Id guess the reason is they would have to actually shrink some of the campsites to accommodate the extra width

Yeah, that may be it. Based on how it has been laid out in recent years, they can get an extra lane in without changing too much. It may be the case that they will see what 1 extra lane does and take it from there for future years.

How strict was the actual searching last year compared to other years?

I got by with just opening my bag and letting them have a poke into it, but I saw some people having to empty everything out.

Depends on when you get there, I just got waved through as they gave up trying to search everyone due to the length of the queue.

When I was going through the gates the hold up was them trying to put wristbands on people, the searching was non-existent.

Hadn't thought of that, I guess we just have to hope last year isn't repeated :(

The festival hasn't sold out yet. Were the organisers telling porkies this year.

Last year it sold out on 30th July and capacity's been upped to 18K this year so reasonable to expect it to take a little longer.

https://www.loudersound.com/news/jamey-jasta-reveals-specials-guests-for-his-jasta-and-friends-tour

In case if anyone is interested, the special guests joining Jasta have been announced (bar one): Howard Jones, Dino Cazares, Howard Jones, Kirk Windstein and one yet announced.

Eh, if I'm bothered I might give them a go, if only if they do any decent covers

Howard Jones, so good they named him twice? Or are we going to get the superb new wave singer as well as the dull metalcore one?

Aye I do like Howard Jones' voice. I'm a fan of his clean and harsh vocals but his cleans are very distinctive.
