2018 Capacity

Postby Jay1993 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 7:30 pm

Just read on the latest news post that they're considering moving the camper van area across the road next year to allow for more camping space. Do you think this means they're looking to increase capacity next year? If not it seems a little strange as the new campsite they opened this year was extremely spacious!

Hopefully it will mean bigger bands ala Priest or Manowar

Read that as trying to expand the room for campers, not the tent area.

Bit odd, that new campsite looked pretty empty when I had a look.

Also they need to do something about that entrance queue before expanding the capacity any further, I was stuck in that for 3 baking hot hours this year. Maybe open the campsites on Wednesday so everyone isn't trying to get in at the same time.

It was fairly empty when I got in at 4pm after queuing for 2 hours and filled up but there were still a few empty spaces here and there.

Plenty of space in Valhalla and the one opposite (Asgard?) wasn't exactly packed.

Where is this post? Can't see it in the news section (fully anticipate that I've gone blind and missed it  )

The price increase is only £6, let's not freak out.

Early bird is £125 (£132 inc. fee). Full price is £145 + fee.

Yep. It's only about 4% which is about the rate of inflation.

Price of a pint in some venues.

I find this really odd for the same reason

Ragnarok was half empty and Iron Wood could fit quite a lot more in from what I saw from visiting my mates each night

It looked to me like they could increase capacity by 1000 without really doing anything

Midgard wasn'nt awful either - there was plenty of space between tents etc.

Probably looking at increasing capacity and seeing how much extra it would cost, and tempering any potential price rises - what is a camper van ticket? Essentially a parking space you sleep in - there are no hook ups etc so it's additional money for little provision. It always sells out and they get no extra from camping tickets.
