So they got screwed over by circumstance 2 years in a row? Christ that's unlucky.

We got there early last year and got through the gates within 30 minutes. Definitely worth turning up as early as possible!

I bet everyone will turn up early this year, so we'll end up with exactly the same problem.

When you say early, how early do you mean? It says on the site that anyone who turns up before midday will be turned away. We only live in Derby so will be getting there as soon as we'll be allowed in

Yeah thats bullshit about midday.

I think it opened at 10am last year when they saw the line already getting huge.

Fair enough. I'll probably try and get there around 11am and hope for the best then. I didn't get there til after work last year and got straight in, but I've heard so much about how bad it was that I'm preparing for the worst this time.

Yeah I think we got there around 11/11:30 and they were already letting people in so don't worry about being turned away! It was only when we went back to the car to get some more things in the afternoon (About 2-3pm) that the queue was massive!

We arrived about 10-10.30 last year and I think they were letting people in as early as that tbh.

Got cancelled part way through the second day. It was because of bad weather though (someone got struck by lightning) rather than a security issue.

I think you're mixing up the years! 2015 was the thunderstorm - I was at Rock im Park which was "evacuated" (everyone in campsite had to go to arena) when the weather arrived after people were injured by the storm the day before at Rock am Ring.

2017 did have a "terrorist threat" cause suspension of the festival, however it resumed the next day as normal so in all honesty there's a good chance the whole thing was an over-cautious false alarm.

About letting people in early, they certainly weren't letting anyone in at 10 or 10:30! They did start before 12, but we're talking more like 11:30 or maybe 11:15 at the earliest.

Rock am Ring was cancelled part way during 2016 due to Lightening. It was a long drive home on the Sunday after 6 hr wait to get out the car park, not much fun.
After that as fools we went again only to miss Rammstein on the Friday night due to contractors having invalid passes and a bomb threat.
At least this year we had no hitches.

BOA seems to be leaving it late to release the stage times. Is this normal??

Perfectly normal, unfortunately. They do this every year despite repeated requests to get the times out earlier.

I wonder if their deal with the laminate people says they can't release stage times until the Monday before the festival.

Having had a quick look through the stage times it looks like your clashfinder was completely correct, well done :D
