New Campsite

Postby i0th » Thu Mar 29, 2018 10:52 am

Sorry if this is old news just only just seen it myself, from the event info page:

We have made some slight site changes again this year.

We have also added a new Campsite this year called Jotunheim, which is accessible from Ironwood.

The 2018 map will be available shortly as there are some minor site changes this year.

Recon they are doing a large capacity increase?

They only added the Ragnarok camp last year and the 1 time I wandered into it the place was more than half empty

Could be completely moving the entrance, improves the walk from the campsite and then people who just want to camp as soon as they're through the gate can do and people that want to get closer to the arena can, should help spread the concentration out.

Ah yeah would be a good idea if they are adding a bigger/2nd entrance as getting in last year was a fucking nightmare for a lot of people

It'll be where the campervans have been (since they're being move to over the road from VIP). Would be surprised about another entrance as the insurance people would have a fit.

You can't get to the old campervan field from Ironwood though, you'd just extend Valhalla to encompass that space.

Bearded Theory's entrance is behind Hel but they park on the other side of the road and you wouldn't really want the quiet camp to be the first people get to as it'd just fill up with people who have no intention of being quiet.

They changed that a couple of years back, last couple you needed to go through what was the old drop off to get to the vans. That area is right behind Ironwood so that's why I'm guessing that'll be where the new camp is.

Interesting as Ragnarok was half empty last year (and probably quieter than Hel!) despite it being a sell out. Last I heard, they are only increasing capacity to 18,500 so a 3,500 increase. I guess adding an extra camp ensures their backs are covered though and means we aren't too cramped in!

There's a field between Ironwood and the road, I'm guessing that's going to be Jotunheim. Seems a bit premature as the new one they opened last year was fairly empty.
