DRI not playing but wanting to

Postby Aerosol_Kid » Wed Jun 06, 2018 10:11 am

Am absolutely gutted that although DRI are touring UK/Ireland on the Bloodstock weekend that they've been criminally overlooked and won't be there. Been following the tour dates and noted that Sunday 12/08 didn't have a show, until now. So guess what, instead of one of the first crossover thrash bands formed in '82 playing 'the home of metal' in the UK, they're playing a pub in Bolton. Fucking ridiculous.

And worse according to their Facebook page - "We tried to play. No one responded."

Why would a band that aren't metal be a good fit for "the home of metal"?

Ah, fishing.

Let's leave it as a subjective opinion should we, because according to wiki and encyclopedia metallum they are. (And me)

No less metal than several other bands who have played over the last few years. Our opinion obviously differs on them, but isn't crossover a subgenre of both metal and hardcore?

Could of fitted well lower down the card as they aren't a massive band but one that would probably draw ok at a festival. Glad I'm seeing them on the tour, they're still great live.

Cool story. Tell it again, but with more dragons.

Genre taxonomy discussions are rarely fruitful, but for me, no it isn't. It's hardcore with heavy guitars, and to my ears there's quite a large difference between that and metal.
