Weather forecast

Postby Black Wizard » Fri Aug 03, 2018 3:16 pm

This is the latest Met Office forecast for Alrewas, that village on the A38 near Catton Park.

They're only giving the forecast up to Thursday so far but it looks like the end of next week will be somewhat cooler than earlier in the week, thankfully. Obviously that could change over the next couple of days.

Hopefully we'll get a dry festival again this year, but I'm a bit concerned about the state of the ground after how little rain there's been lately. It might be very difficult to get the pegs in the ground. :(

Thursday/Friday not looking too bad on that forecast. Could do without the rain on Thursday at set up time but at least we won't be melting in the queue this year.

BBC's (non-Met Office) forecast is guessing dry Thursday and Friday but light rain Saturday and Sunday. Never really believe forecasts. :)

Pleased to see that the night time temps are in double figures- froze to death nearly one night last year!

I will be happy as long as it isn't as hot during the day as 2015

Accuweather now has mainly dry apart from a few light spots of rain on Sat and a chance of an afternoon shower on Sunday.

I usually look at the jetstream forecast.
https://www.netweather.tv/charts-and-data/jetstream
If the yellow and reds of the jetstream are north of the UK then hot air is dragged in from the south...as you can see if you animate the stream, the reds and yellows will be on top of the UK on BOA days....hence the cooler conditions and possible changeable weather. So it won't be blistering.

Not as warm as it has been and cloudy does me fine, I'll quite happily put up with a little rain in exchange for not baking alive.

Yeah I agree, can deal with a little rain if it is not crazy hot. Heres hoping.

Add in a cool breeze that's not strong enough to throw the sound off and it's ideal for me

Since the site is a quarry, does that mean if it does rain it won't be too swampy? Debating trainers or boots.

The site copes quite well with rain in general but last time it rained heavily the major traffic areas still turned into bogs so bring the boots
