Maybe a Sonata Arctica / Stratovarius / Gamma Ray "big cheesy bastards" power metal band ?
Sabaton are fun enough, but there are only so many times you can rehash 'tanks and bombers and armour roar' (beer on me if that's not a real lyric)

Sabaton are bigger currently than all of those tbf. I would quite like to see Stratovarius be the next 'old school BOA band brought back after a bloody eternity'. This year was my 10th BOA in a row, and I've still not seen them, haha.
For what it's worth, I think we'll get something like:
Behemoth - Killswitch Engage/Parkway Drive - Sabaton
Epica - Dimmu Borgir - Skindred
Children of Bodom -Powerwolf - Meshuggah
With the sophie stage being something like:
Avatar - Demons & Wizards - 1349
Re: 2019 Bands
Hypocrisy and Vader have been announced for a European festival (can't remember which one). Both bands are overdue at BOA.

I'd love to see that! Also Amorphis and Dream Theatre would be great
Re: 2019 Bands
I love Dream Theater but last time I saw them LaBrie's voice was completely shot and I can away pretty disappointed. Not sure if I'd like to see them at Bloodstock or not

Arcturus!!! Could you imagine a more majestic 45 minutes?
Re: 2019 Bands
Actually, Pain would make an awesome Sophie stage headliner....

We might get some of these, although probably not Alien Weaponry two years running. Hammerfall would be a very welcome addition!

Re: 2019 Bands
I'd like to see a few more "special performances" i.e. reunions or album in full slots or even bands rarely in the UK, always makes the festival feel more like a unique event which was lacking this year for me

Sabaton Open Air is tomorrow, so assuming that Sabaton are headlining BOA19 plus other festivals I assume that after tomorrow things will become clearer.

I can imagine a far more majestic 45 minutes, they've been horrendous both live and on record since Hastnaes has been on vocals. The Garm albums are amazing though.

Nah, will get tiny crowds and demand huge fees (especially Gamma Ray), Sabaton are the only "big" power metal band who would justify their fee with a big crowd.

Napalm Death have a new album out next year so I'd reckon they're a shoe in
