Some bands as palate cleansers

Postby jamesclarkross » Tue Jun 28, 2022 9:46 am

Greetings, Bloodstock Family

I'm here to probe your knowledge of softer bands at this year's Bloodstock Festival.

The group I'm going with this year comprises people of various musical tastes. While we are broadly really happy with the lineup (I definitely am), the consensus is that the lineup is really heavy and without many palate cleansers (which we know of!).

Sleep Token aside, because we don't like them, and Butcher Babies, Nanowar of Steel and The Night Flight Orchestra aside, because we know them, can people recommend some of the softer bands on the lineup. A few of us are suckers for power metal.

Thank you in advance! :)

Not power metal but Ferocious Dog are one of the softer bands if you're up for an Irish jig.

And then there's one of the best bands in the world Mercyful Fate who aren't heavy.

Avatar have a lot of clean power metal style singing in their songs inbetween the growling.

Cyhra are pretty decent power metal. Fyresky and Novacrow on the New Blood aren't excesively heavy either.

Soen are a very classy prog/heavy band. Not a million miles away from Opeth, but of the 2 I prefer Soen. Skarlett Riot might tick some boxes for you as well.

I am a huge Opeth fan and have tried quite hard to 'get' Soen. I'm not there yet but I'll carry on.

I've never listened to Skarlett Riot. Thanks!
