I think Gama Bomb were just as much to blame for that.

I dont personally know anything about booking bands but a few months ago the organiser of Metaldays put up a poll on the official Facebook group asking what people thought about moving the festival from July to August as it would make it easier for them to book a more varied/bigger bands which suggests that the time of the year is an advantage not disadvantage

There are interesting bands about that would be an event: candlemass reunited with their first singer, Tom G Warrior playing Hellhammer only sets, and the above mentioned final/special shows....Sleep, Demolition Hammer, Deicide, King Diamond, Demons and Wizards

The festival also seems to forget what a stacked lineup can do for the day. You don't NEED to have a huge headliner if you have loads of really good bands on the same day.

 Nail on the head

Been saying it for ages, a strong undercard trumps a strong headliner. A headliner only plays for 1hr 30min, what about the other 9 hours of the day? I don't mind the first slot on main each day going to a small band as it's a chance to support up and coming bands; but sometimes the bands they have further up the card just seem to be money saving bookings.

Beast in Black are number 2 in the UK rock album charts, not even on the BOA lineup this year. Could easily be in a midcard slot on Main stage.

Were they that horrendous cheese laden band that supported Nightwish? Sounded like a boyband with guitars.

I’m hoping they’ll want to get rid of recent booking controversies with a swift announcement involving some old school death and thrash :D

Raises the question, do you think they'll make a proper attempt at appealing to the non-hardcore crowd or just the odd crumb here or there?

I was hoping that the Sophie would save us but Generation Kill & Shvpes wasn't a very good start  who knows, maybe the Hobgoblin stage will be awesome.

Well I'll enjoy Generation Kill at least

The headliners gave me a sense of hope but the likes of Speedhorn and Shvpes make me think it'll be back to the usual

The only really important question now is ‘Is there space on the bill for Overkill?’ and if not, listen to the new album then ask again!!

Overkill were outstanding in 2015, would be delighted to see them again.

Not sure if there is a space but it'd be brilliant to see them back. The album is wonderful, love it.
