Surely at this point Parkway are crossing over more into Reading fest territory than BOA?

Given the size of the crowd last time they can't be rushing to get them to headline so soon?

"Bloodstock Festival
26 mins

A #BOA19 headliner is going to be announced VERY soon.. can you guess who it is!? Tell us in the comments below who you think our debut Bloodstock 2019 Headliner might be and if you guess correct you will be in with the chance of winning a Bloodstock Mug!

And Bloodstock Headliner number 1 IS..."

It is going to be somethin I dislike such as FFDP I reckon..

I can't work out if they mean debut as in first headliner announcement or debut as in a band that haven't played the festival before :?

Does debut mean never played before, never headlined before, or just the first one announced?

My money is still on Sabaton.

Amount of fb comments saying Slayer, Behemoth, Opeth

It literally says debut headliner in the post

In guessing it just means have not headlined before. Assuming its Sabaton at this point

Yeah. I'd be reasonably happy with that. Especially if it upsets the Download kids and Disney Metal fans on here.

Not that I'm a big fan of Opeth or Behemoth, but far better than most of the alternatives mentioned over the last few pages. If you want those bands then just go to Download, they play there all the time.

Unfortunately we'll probably get Sabaton. Are they even still a thing though? They did one or two decent albums and then disappeared up their own arses into pretentious wank and inflated egos.

Yeah, creating your own festival and regularly selling out dates on tours means you're no longer a thing

That's in Sweden though. Totally irrelevant to their standing in the UK. Vader play in front of tens of thousands in Poland yet play small venues elsewhere.

Didn't they just play two or three dates in large venues last time as part of a package tour? Usually they have someone like Alestorm to swell the numbers. Most headliners are selling out at least half a dozen of the same size venues or arenas.

However I did mean creativity wise. They were good when they started, then egos got in the way. Seems to be par for the course when it comes to Power Metal bands.

In what way have 'egos' gotten in the way of the writing? Genuinely interested in how that is quantified.

Presumably anything female-fronted with an actual chorus or possibly even anything that emerged after 1990...

Sabaton sold out the Brixton Academy on their last UK visit if I recall correctly, on the back of a top 20 album. So yeah, they're still a thing here.
