Whilst I was gutted about Code Orange canceling, The Wildhearts is a great replacement!

While I'm hardly a fan of the Wildhearts , I'm happy the festival has managed to get a name band as a replacement. I'm impressed with it actually, it was very short notice. I'll give them a watch.

Great that Lotus Eater are playing- but Wildhearts-I thought this was a metal festival?Anyway - I'd always been a bit curious as to where some of the weird choices come from until I attended a M2M heat in the middle of nowhere some years ago and the band that went through (on the judges say so) wasn't even metal and nowhere near as good as 2 other bands that were there.

Tbf, Code Orange aren't metal either, we've just replaced a shit non-metal band for a good non-metal band. Massive win.

They've also just announced the last of the New Blood bands:

Friday:
Death By Ki - Thrash/Metalcore
GAIA - Progressive Metal
Xero - Progressive Rock/Alternative Metal
Midnight Prophecy - Trad

Saturday:
Grief Ritual - New Wave Blackened Hardcore (whatever that is)
Voluntas - Progressive Thrash Metal
Empire Warning - Groove Metal
Voidlurker - Doom
Stormcast - Melodic/Atmospheric Death Metal

Sunday:
Fractions - Metalcore/Progressive Metal
LEADROBOT - Industrial Groove Metal

The only one I know is Midnight Prophecy, who are worth a watch if nothing else is on. Voidlurker, Stormcast and everything describing itself as Progressive also trigger my interest.

Well, The Wildhearts were excellent last night, even with one with a hernia, one with a groin strain and one with an artificial leg..

Wildhearts have always been great whenever I've seen them.

Give me their 'pop shite' over some grunting, chest-beating nonsense or some shrieking raccoons any day.

The collective will of the entire forums?

But no. The answer is no.

Thy Art & MaroonDrive to go. I reckon they could get Visions of Atlantis, Avantasia & Gamma Ray with the money saved...

Some really good bands in there, will certainly be spending some time in the NB this year (and not just because main is crap  )

As for the Wildhearts it's a brilliant booking; improved my Saturday a fair bit. Got to hand it to them, I was expecting a sophie band to get bumped up :eyes:

Maybe they realised very few wanted them. They were good in a local pub venue when I saw them and a nice friendly bunch of lads. However I'm not sure they would've gone down well at Bloodstock. The closest we have got to having Maiden ha!

Rise to Remain played the main stage in 2008, if you're going by the dubious Dicko = Maiden & Spawn of Dicko = Dicko logic. :P

They went down like a sack of wet turds too. They had no business being on the main stage, especially considering that they didn't even have an album the time. :/

This band could be worth putting on the wishlist
Buffalo Crows with Paul Mario Day the first Iron Maiden vocalist (knocks spots off Dicko)
