According to the info I've googled they were playing venues pretty much the same size. In 2006 they played the Manchester Academy 1, with a capacity of 1,500, which is the same capacity as the venue they played last year, The Ritz.

No - Ritz is considerably smaller. Academy 1 is 2600, they played there up to Heritage, then they were down to the 900 cap Academy 2, then on the last tour is was In the Ritz - I've been to sold out gigs there and you can't move, it wasn't like that when Opeth played last year.

Phew!

Seconded. Could do without them taking up a big slot.

I've never been there so will obviously bow down to your knowledge but the info I've gleaned from google is that it was 1,500 in 2006, increased to 2,300 later and eventually 2,600 in 2013.

Either way, Opeth sell more records now than they did 12-15 years ago so it would seem odd that less people are going to see them. They may have lost a few 'more metal than you!' types but they've picked up twice as many from elsewhere.

Re Meshuggah, think it's been announced as their only UK show in 2019 so that's them ruled out of BOA

You mean the demographic BOA is aiming for?

Opeth are still a metal band, certainly moreso than Mr Big!

VIP Tickets gone on sale …..

Dear BOA, please announce some bands, and I will be happy to give you some of my hard earned money. Does not seem too unreasonable - does it ?

Apparently I say things I shouldn’t but pffffff who cares! So on that note there’s a @BLOODSTOCKFEST headliner announcement next week

Lets hope for an unexpected band but I fully expect it to be Sabaton

Would still say the lack of a UK show on Manowars tour puts them headlining fairly likely. Seems like a likely step to go to after Priest

I'm expecting Sabaton, maybe Slayer. Would enjoy both but neither would make me jump for joy.

Probably end up with someone I've no interest in at all though.

Slayer I think they'll wait until after their tour now.

Sabaton is my bet.

I really don't want Slayer again, have seen them so many times over the years.

Manowar being announced would cause me to lose my shit but I can't see it happening. I would love to be wrong.
