There's obviously more to that than a simple covers band, so I wonder if we're getting the same thing? Amon Amarth doing a set under that name along with a headline set for 2023 announced?

Just about to post that, seems very fucking likely.

Now this sounds like a much more interesting prospect then shitting Machine Head or Phil & Friends pretend to be Pantera

Surely it wouldn't be safe to have Amon Amarth in the tent and they would have to be switched to main?

My guess was going to circle around would it be a kid of someone in Amon Amarth having formed a band or something. But a quick 2 minute google (as much as I could be bothered to do) reveals not much that could compel that. So that's is totally out.

If the secret band is an AA cover band, then there better be something really special to it. Otherwise it opens the doors to cover bands at BOA. And that's a big nope for me. Save them for the local divebar-made-fancy-after-being-taken-over-by-Green-King venues with clever puns on the name.

The silhouette in the picture looks very much like Johan Hegg tbf. On cover bands in general, we've had Hanowar 3 times and Womenowar but on New Blood/Jager which is probably about as far as those things should get. Though you could argue Dio Disciples & Last In Line.

To be honest, I'll find out who they are when everyone else does I guess.

The only thing I really want them to do is make sure Samael and Dimmu Borgir don't clash. I'm a big black metal fan and to me this year's lineup doesn't have much of it. So making the main two BM bands clash as the clashfinders suggest is a bit shit.

TBH this year is a bit weak to me overall. Though I have some favourites and some new bands I want to look at, I find myself more attempting to find bands to fill my time rather than worrying about clashes overall. Years previous, I found that I could just plonk myself somewhere near the centre stage and other than 1-2 bands per day, I'd want to see everyone. Now, not so much. Saturday is a pretty clear day for me until Dimmu Borgir.

There is also rather a lot of comedy metal. I personally don't see the appeal, not enough to warrant any more than Party Cannon. I just find it rather tedious.

Ah well. You didn't need to read all that I'm sure haha.

it looked more like Chris Kontos saying he was going to be at Bloodstock - he's not in Machine Head anymore outside of the BME anniversary stuff.

Have I missed the set times somehow, or are they just not out there yet? I Know that they leave it late, but there's only 5 days to go now.

I think it's normally that late. Once I remember it being nearly the day before.
