Scorpions

Sunday headliner

Classic band that everyone knows, Sing-a-long Sunday
If they can get Priest then can get The Scorps

Parkway Drive ive never heard of, are they a cigarette brand? And neither them or Volbeat have been on TOTP(!)

Real ale and belting out "Still loving you" "WInd of Change" "No-one like and you" and "Rock you like a Hurricane", you know it makes sense!

Last I looked, they were prohibitively expensive. But I said that about Priest as well, and we managed to get them. The two bands are (or at least were, very recently) charging the same amount for festival appearances, so there's always hope. Personally, I'd be very happy to see them at Bloodstock. They did, after all, invent heavy metal...

If The Scorpions are announced I'd buy a ticket in a nanosecond

Great suggestion - nothing beats a headliner that can command a stadium-sized crowd. That said headliner has songs that can be sung / wailed / drunkenly slurred along to easily enough is always a bonus.

Would be a cracking pick up. Echo Tet's sentiment - heard they were crazy expensive, but also heard similar about Priest.

I always though Black Sabbath started it. :?

I've seen Scorpions a couple of times in the last few years - at Ramblin Man in 2016 and Stone Free this year. The first time I loved them but the second time I was a little underwhelmed as there were too many instrumentals and the set didn't seem to flow very well. It was still a great spectacle but as they have so many great songs to play I feel they missed a lot out.

I won't be moving heaven and earth to see Scorpions again but it would be cool to see them at Bloodstock.

It's an ongoing argument to which there is no clear answer. Many people claim that Sabbath started heavy metal. They were certainly one of the main influences. There is no hard and fast start point for heavy metal. But I'm one of those that subscribes to the view that Sabbath were heavy, but Priest were metal. And if you're going to take that view, then Scorps got there before Priest...

They've been hit and miss the last few times I've seen them, I normally enjoy them till they play wind of change, the most awful song they've done. Their back catalogue has a fuck ton of great hard rock tunes so a good sing along on Sunday night could be had.
