Svalbarduk - never heard of them, hardcore punk crew? No thanks

Well the announcement is describing them in a very bad way then, anything that's described as hardcore punk is a massive turn off for me.

tbf its annoying me as yeah i feel lots of people wont check them out because of that.
they are one of the most though provoking bands lyric content (sexual assult at gigs, abortion, dog breeding, femenism) wise and yeah they have hardcore elements...but to me they are a post black metal band.

proud af they on the main but should really be on the sophie because of all the intricate bits and slower passages

Their own wikipedia page doesn't sell them either - "On their Bandcamp, Svalbard place their work within the general categories of alternative, crust, hardcore, metal, punk, rock, and occasionally post-hardcore, post-rock, post-metal, black metal and emo.[1] Their label, Holy Roar Records, has described them as combining "post-hardcore, crust/d-beat, post-rock and black metal atmospherics and intensity" as well as drawing "musical influence from crust, post-rock and hardcore ... and lyrical influence from early 20th century existentialism".[5] They have also been described as: an "archetypal 2010s post-hardcore band" by Drowned in Sound"

tldr - every post- -alt -punk genre in a blender

Svalbard are pretty good, I'm assuming they'll open the stage and that's a pretty good opener. Seen them a few times at Arctangent, and while I would describe them as "post-hardcore" they are more experimental than that suggests. Probably would be better on the Sophie though.

Soen are band of the announcement, decent prog metal.

Idle Hands are watchable, they seem a bit too goth for Bloodstock, they just sound like The Cure to me. Again, they'd probably go down better on the Sophie.

Acid Reign, Dog Tired, Viscera and Bailers are all not my thing at all.
BANDS I LIKE FOR BLOODSTOCK!!!

Don't know much about most of that bunch, but even Stevie Wonder could see that Acid Reign would be announced for mainstage and I am so bloody happy that Soen have been added. How the hell are they below Bloodywood on the bill though?

They're like trad metal but also inspired by the Cure.

Anyone who sleeps on them is missing out.

Same here bud! I'm absolutely ecstatic to see them on the bill, wasn't expecting to get to see them any time soon but Bloodstock have caught me off guard! :D Mana was pretty much on repeat for me most of last year! Id say it's a perfect blend of trad metal, goth, and new romantic. Got a feeling they could really blow up at some point given how catchy their songs are.

Acid Reign will be fun on main and Svalbard were great when I saw them at Damnation before. The rest I need to check out.

So far this lineup is looking stacked for me, really glad I got my early bird ticket!

IDLE HANDS!! :D

Another Idle Hands fan, worth checking out their last album if you haven't already. Soen are also another good signing. Its like the bookers finally looked at some of the best of '19 and '18 lists to get some ideas for new bands to book rather than Loudwire.

Shame there are too many big quality gaps on the line up for me to change my plans now and go this year as there are a handful of bands I would really like to see.

Gave a couple of Idle Hands track a spin and thought they were great! Sunday is looking frankly amazing for me, Saxon, Priest, Diamond Head, Gloryhammer, Unleash the Archers and Orange Goblin are all must sees. Idle Hands sounding great too. So fuck if Hatebreed are shite.

There's still only 1 band across the whole of Friday and Saturday that I'd go out my way to watch (Paradise Lost). Good grief this is looking pretty dire. Hope the weather is nice for campsite drinking otherwise I'm gonna be screwed.

Over the whole weekend I'd only actively see Behemoth, Paradise Lost, Winterfylleth and Gloryhammer; 4 bands out of 44 isn't the best return.

If you want to spend upwards of 200 quid to sit in a field drinking, I've got a nice big plot in Wales ? no neighbours, so you can blast all the music you like ? You can even park next to your tent ! I'll do 2-for-1 if you want to bring your mates. VIP (extra) gets you access to the indoor plumbing.
