The only one I'd heard of is Acid Reign, and that's only via the caustic reviews of their latest album

Not regretting my Rhapsody / Helloween / VoA / HRH Vikings tickets yet

Idle Hands released my favourite album of 2019, this is a fantastic addition to the line up.

They're like trad metal but also inspired by the Cure.

Anyone who sleeps on them is missing out.

Love the most recent Soen album, so very happy with that. Nothing else does anything for me

Still looks like just the Devin day for me

Colour me very intrigued.

So obviously I recommend the whole album "Mana", but my favourite tracks from the album are "Nightfall", "Give Me To The Night", and "Double Negative", if you just want to sample a few tracks.

And then from their EP I thought "Time Crushes All" was incredible too.

I seem to be way out of touch as the only one of those bands I know is Acid Reign.

Due to the lower key build up than usual, I’m guessing a load of Sophie bands

Given the lack of big names of the main stage, any announcement now isn't even worth a build-up. But you're probably right - a bunch of pub bands nobody's heard of for the 2nd stage most likely.
God, Bloodstock really know how to take momentum and throw it down the drain, I used to see news of announcement and be excited or at the very least intrigued, and in the past few years, after the first 2 or 3 announcements it's just not worth caring any more

Looks like I wasn't far wrong, then.

Well the announcement is describing them in a very bad way then, anything that's described as hardcore punk is a massive turn off for me.

tbf its annoying me as yeah i feel lots of people wont check them out because of that.
they are one of the most though provoking bands lyric content (sexual assult at gigs, abortion, dog breeding, femenism) wise and yeah they have hardcore elements...but to me they are a post black metal band.

proud af they on the main but should really be on the sophie because of all the intricate bits and slower passages

Their own wikipedia page doesn't sell them either - "On their Bandcamp, Svalbard place their work within the general categories of alternative, crust, hardcore, metal, punk, rock, and occasionally post-hardcore, post-rock, post-metal, black metal and emo.[1] Their label, Holy Roar Records, has described them as combining "post-hardcore, crust/d-beat, post-rock and black metal atmospherics and intensity" as well as drawing "musical influence from crust, post-rock and hardcore ... and lyrical influence from early 20th century existentialism".[5] They have also been described as: an "archetypal 2010s post-hardcore band" by Drowned in Sound"

tldr - every post- -alt -punk genre in a blender
