3rd headliner

Postby phuqsticks » Mon Aug 28, 2023 3:22 pm

You know you all like a bit of pointless speculation. Any thoughts on who the 3rd headliner might be?

They have a heavy one, and a modern one, so I would think it's an older one... But that's usually the Sunday spot.

I wonder if they can afford Pantera?

Not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd certainly be curious.

I'd say its more a case of if anyone else wants Pantera. If Download will book them they will play there. It would be a controversial booking wherever they go.

Personally I think it'll be someone a bit softer. I'd say Alice Cooper, but I've said that before and he hasn't been back. Could be someone like Alter Bridge or Volbeat as well but I hope not.

It's not Pantera, they're touring the US with Metallica next summer. Thankfully.

My guess would be Scorpions returning - with either Helloween or Blind Guardian as special guests seems as Scorpions are at Wacken and Blind Guardian are at Metal Days next year. Or maybe Emperor headlining to satisfy the heavier fans (also at Metal Days next year).

I've got more and more into Scorpions over the years, but the are diminishing returns live, they were a bit flat last time at Bloodstock tbh. ...but if I'm honest, they would still be a draw for me.

As they've already booked heavy and modern headliners for 2024, I'll suggest Anthrax or AC/DC.

I would love to see Jinjer headline in 2024.

Scorpions would be great if they played like they did when I saw them at Knebworth in 1985, they were incredible. For anyone not familiar with Scorpions, here are a couple of videos from the 80s:

BIg Green Coach appear to have jumped the gun:

D'Opeth, more bar time I guess.

Also, Flogging Molly & Hellripper have disappeared from the lineup page :(

Was just about to post this, Big Green Coach have sure messed up.

Don't think Flogging or Hellripper were ever added to the lineup page to begin with which is odd.

The latest video with the directors got pushed back from yesterday to today - wonder if that might have had an influence of the Opeth leak and/or the Hellripper/Flogging Molly stuff.

Official band announcement coming Tuesday I believe but yes, it looks that way.
