Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
maybe elitist is the wrong word, maybe it's just me, but it seems to complain alot about people 'not understanding' music that it is promoting (e.g. the new Morbid Angel album). Doesn't stop me reading it though

Thing is, whoever wrote tha MA album review might not have the same musical opinions as everyone else who writers for them. There's a lot of people who write for them. I don't recall them being -that- complainy about people objecting to their reviews. Come to think of it, I don't recall their MA review being that praising, though it was a while back. They did give the new Pestilence album a 9, which I thought was rather funny.

Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
their bloodstock '10 review missed most of the popular bands, including the headliners, which instantly struck me as being a bit elitist. i suppose thats what their readers want though. personally i think its the worst music magazine around, even worse than kerrang, and thats pretty bad
Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
I find Metal Magazines to be pretty cringeworthy to be honest. I have my own opinions on things, I am not overly interested on other peoples unless its an album I dont like that I feel I should, and that doesnt happen that often. I stay clear of the Opeth's of this world.
Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
Trrrorizer is getting more like Metal Hammer these days. I'd say it isn't elitist enough anymore. I prefer ZT when I can get it.

I've noticed a couple of new mags have come out lately Big Cheese and Rock Sound magazine, both look pretty shite to me. Pop magazines that chuck in the odd metal band to maintain a little credibility. kerrang clones.

They've both been knocking around since the mid/late 90s...

Why is there no 'none of the above' option?
Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
Classic Rock I love the nostalgia however I only rarely get it,most of the news and reviews are online for everything now anyway
The Music I adore has nothing In common with what Kerrang and False-Metal Hammer peddle

I can't stand Metal Hammer, so I buy the odd Terrorizer when I can.

Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
I refuse to buy Metal Hammer from now on since they started supporting bands like BMTH
Re: Metal magazines - PLEASE ANSWER!!!!
I think it's hard to find a decent metal magazine now...Metal Hammer used to be quite good although I think it's been going downhill lately by putting bands such as BMTH in.
When I do get one I usually get Terrorizer .
and Kerrangs just a bit of a joke now

I get Terrorizer on subscription now, but ever since they've put bands in that only fourteen year old girls would like and putting a member of Shitknot on the cover I've lost respect for it slighty.
Zero Tolerance I like as it's the cheapest of the three and the place where I get it is just a short walk from my house and it covers completely the other end of the spectrum to Terrorizer. So they both keep me up to date on things.
Metal Hammer? or should I say Girl Hammer?
I don't buy it since it started worshiping Bring Me The Hairspray and other shite like that.
