Someone else mentioned this to me (haven't watched yet) and it sounds pretty stupid - "breaking the paladin" comes to mind. I assume it's established that he's married to Selyse at some point before this happens?

I think you see her walking away from the burning statues of The Seven with Stannis. Then when this scene does take place spoilers he says that he has a wife and doesn't want to break his vows, then fucking does anyway
