This coming Monday, I'm finally going to have someone to teach me how to play my hurdy gurdy properly. I've a feeling the frustration is about to begin, but at least I'll hopefully end up with the right technique.
I also managed to (sort of) fix a problem with her earlier. The main chanterelle kept dying as I was playing. Unfortunately, I hadn't noticed I'd leant my wrist on the wheel, lifting some rosin off, so the other chanterelle (tuned an octave higher) kept failing too. Rubbing the rest of the rosin off the wheel, re-applying, then adding some cotton to the main chanterelle eventually did the trick.
Still, apart from one of the drone strings being a bit weak and slow to sound, that's the only problem I've had with her in the few months I've had her. Not bad, really
