I got some confirmation of news we expected tonight, left me feeling quite low.

My cousin in Aus gave birth to a little girl last November who was born with her lungs half formed. They wanted to operate but at 9 months old she's barely over 11lbs in weight so it's far too dangerous, at the moment that option is out of the question.

They confirmed yesterday the poor little mite will be on oxygen for the rest of her life. My aunt has done some research and she's one of only 500 people in the world who have her specific condition (I don't know the name.)

On a plus point, she's had some contact with a mother in America whose toddler has the same thing, and they've trained an assistance dog to carry his oxygen cylinder about so that he can actually run around and play like any normal child. Aww :)

I've sorta known for the last 7-8 months or so (due to symptoms/family history), but got confirmed today I have a strain of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retinitis_pigmentosa

Even thinking for so long that I might have it, the "official stamp" as it were has hit me a bit

F**k. I felt like crap when I found out my second daughter had got trouble with her circulation and had a more than worrisome heart murmur (now finally going, thankfully). God knows how I'd have reacted to that. Best wishes to all.

Same to Mike. I whinge about being short sighted and suffering from migraines.
I'll shut up now, I think.

Thanks, and all the best for your little girl too :)

Sorry to hear that Mike, sounds awful.

On the whinging point, I get people saying that to me a fair bit at the moment - don't. Everything is relative and you only deal with what life deals you, everyone's entitled to a moan

My mum has power of attorney and all the bills are paid on standing orders and the post redirected to my mum. But one letter must've slipped through the cracks and until it's taken away from my gran in a few days when my aunt visits she's unlikely to calm down about it. My mum's on holiday so I'm on my own, choosing how often to pick up when she rings or let it go to answer machine.

I know what you mean. We've got the same problem with my great aunt (she's not got any children so my Dad's her nearest relative). She calls my dad up about a dozen times most days. My dad usually screens her calls using the answerphone during the day and speaks to her in the early evening each day.

The really annoying thing for my dad is he'll go round there for a couple of hours and, by the time he gets home, she'll have already left him an answerphone message saying she's "not spoken to anyone all day".
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!
