Just got up to the dwarves meeting Beorn in The Hobbit.
Without doubt, the single most boring chapter of any book I've ever read ever.

Still more interesting than just about any chapter in Lord Of The Rings....

I just read The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker in literally an hour and a half, quite a nice accompanyment to the film, but on it's own its comes across a bit too short and almost unfinished. Nicely gives you some back story if you're a fan of the films, but as a book on its own, I wouldn't really recommend it.

Just finished The Hobbit and found that it ran strangely parallel to An Unexpected Journey. Not in content, obviously, as only parts of it were covered in the film, but mainly in its pacing. Both started annoyingly slowly with long sections of nothing much worth bothering with, to the point where I found myself disliking almost every character, questioning the very existence of others because they offered so little, and basically becoming disinterested in the whole thing.
Then things picked up a bit with a highlight or two along the way (spiders), and slowly built until the end when things finally ended on a high.
Okay, the book settled back into being a non-event before quietly bowing out, but the previous couple of chapters were excellent.

In other news, I finished The Hobbit a few days after seeing the first film in the cinema, so now I'm on Bernard Cornwell's newest book, 1356. Expecting good things.

Also on the go is Number9dream by David Mitchell - loving it so far.

I'm already on the second part of the third book after about a month. So much for leaving it until after the next TV series was aired.

The Timemachine was a fantastic little read, none of the film versions I have ever seen of it do it any justice, but then that was to be expected really. Not sure what to read next. Currently just working my way through the books I own, am thinking the day of the triffids.

I've always been a fan of Novels, mainly Horror and Thriller. I read IT when I was 10 and it remains one of my favourite books of all time. Im also a massive fan of Harlan Coben's Myron Bollitar novels. Very interesting reads.

But, more recently I have turned to comics, and I am now addicted on them...

Am working my way through the Elric series by Michael Moorcock....about to start The Vanishing Tower. It makes for a welcome change of pace reading shorter stories after ploughing through some quite lengthy books previously (only managed to get half way with Chronicles of Conan before putting it down again for a break).
