Re: The Q&A thread
Yeah. Or just download them again like normal people! Maybe this is a very specific DVD that can't be found online though? The only way to do it is to rip the DVD by sticking it into a computer that can read DVD's, usually store bought computers have that function.

Re: The Q&A thread
Well, you don't google "xyz film torrent" nor do you download a bittorrent client that isn't called microtorrent. That's certainly not how to do it.

You definitely don't install antivirus because there are no viruses or other malicious programs out there.
Who the hell reads anything in sigs these days, unless it's an animated gif?
Re: The Q&A thread
and you almost certainly don't download utorrent, and what with a number of sites being censored for the right reasons, the very last thing on your mind should be googling "piratebay proxy".

Avoid encrypted trackers, because ISPs aren't interested in the trackers you're not connected to and the traffic that's not coming from them.

Certainly don't enable encryption within the torrent client either, as you don't really need to hide any of it.

Re: The Q&A thread
Am I right in thinking if you own a DVD, downloading a .avi /whatever of it is perfectly legal?
Re: The Q&A thread
Dunno.
I know that's true for games with ROMs, dunno about movies.

Also, don't use come.in for an easy way to use all the torrent sites which may or may not have disappeared or been blocked
Yes. I probably love Opeth more than you do.

This is going back a long time in the old memory banks, so you may want to actually Google it. I think it's called format shifting which actually isn't legal - but I doubt anyone would sue you for Downloading a copy of Deepthroat or whatever it is that you've scratched or similar.

No, you're not. It's still not legal. The BPI has explicitly come out and said that it believes the law should be changed to allow format shifting and they have no intention of prosecuting those that do it. I don't know if the BFI or other film bodies have an official position on it.
FWIW, it's not legal for game ROMs either.
