For PS2 games I assume? Because all PS3's are backwards compatible with PS1 games.

That's a win for people who have both consoles, like me. And I'll get my free games on PS4

Ffs. The only one of those I'm particularly interested in is SSFIVAE, but I already have that. It's also moot, as the definite Ultra edition is out in a couple of months anyway. I just want Games With Gold to give me something I actually want - is that so bad?

I knew I should have got a PS3. I need to find one of those early models that are still backwards compatible.

Games with gold is a little bit harder to secure games for I think, because you can have a 2 day gold trial and download the free game and its yours, you keep it forever. No PS plus subscription, no access to your downloaded games. A few people I know have given up with PS plus but bought the games they got free, when they otherwise would never have even looked at them, games with gold takes away hundreds of thousands of buys because once its on your account its yours forever. This will also be the way it works on Xbox one, where you need an active gold subscription to play the games, but I'm not expecting anything great on PS4 or Xbox one til late next year tbh.

Duly noted, Craig. Still want one. For one, I need to play Metal Gear Solid 4 at some point. I don't care if it's a 70 hour movie, I need it in my life.

Yep, my slim PS2 died a little while back and haven't got around to replace it. Want to be able to play God Hand again.

Mike, fair point. I get it's a little different, I just find nearly all the announcements rather disappointing.

Why not pick up a 2nd hand ps2? It'd be pretty cheap now surely?
Then you can play ps1&2 games. If you want a 3 I'd definitely recommend at least a slim. Mine's on its 5th year with no dramas.

But I also want to be able to play PS3 games like MGS4 and The Last of Us. Seemed more practical to have an 'all in one' system, you know?

Yeah that makes sense actually. Personally, I'd go for a second hand PS2 and a new PS3, but only because I've had a few mates get screwed over by the older models.

Picked up Dark Souls again.

Immediately cursed by frogs.

Closed it again.

Fuck you frogs.

Took Warfighter back today. Swapped it (and $15) for Far Cry 3 upon recommendation by the guy working there. So far quite liking it!

Just role about a bit? Wear the cursebite ring by powering through lost lordan and sprint past ghost house. Frogs are bro's, give you eyes of death. If you were trying to do the sewers you can just go behind where you killed the butcher, drop down to kill the giant rat and use the shortcut to the boss that only needs one jump over the frog trap place. Be sure to kill the caster before hand though.

Yeah, I found the butcher shortcut on my first run, but I keep accidentally dropping down holes cos I'm an idiot.

I'll pick it up again. I always do.

Completed it with no pants on before I played DS II 8)

Killed Orstein in 3 hits using a Demon Great Machete +14

Think I've spent nearly 300 Hours on it, got 100 on PC, at least 150 on console, and probably another 40 from when I pirated it first time 'round. If you couldn't tell my gif is from dark souls too :D

Oh man far cry 3 is addictive. Total anti-climax (or not hur hur) ending. A little like skyrim.
Worth playing though - the hunting challenges are especially fun :D
