Amount of over the top plugging for the new COD this year is pissing me off. On youtube, it plagues my emails. I am not going to buy it, just like Ghosts. Black Ops 2 is sufficient for me.

Not sure if anyone follows esports or generally watches Twitch streams but:

I don't like the feel of this.

Thing is, I don't have any concrete reason why. It just feels wrong.

I don't like how simple ideas seem to be generating ridiculous money at the moment.
See: Whatsapp, Flappy Bird, and now Twitch.

Twitch is the most advanced of the 3 I guess. But if it's just a chat-based gaming channel then doesn't that concept kind of pre-date MS DOS?
If backwards technology is getting shitloads of money now, then I have this rock...

In less grumbly news, I'm fucking loving Far Cry 3. I audibly groaned when I found out I had to do a stealth mission, but then when I did it I was throwing rocks to distract and arrowing pirates in the neck and shit.
Then later I got caught in a firefight with 3 cars of bastards and ran out of ammo. Fucking lucky shot with a grenade, everything exploded.
Then my Mum saw me kill and skin a rabid dog and made me feel bad..

wut.

Twitch allows anyone from anywhere in the world to stream to their servers and display to the world.

It makes hella dollar from sponsors and advertisements, and during big tournaments can have more than half a million concurrent viewers on a single stream.

It's got chat, but that's a tiny part of a huge organisation.

I didn't know this. I've only heard of it in reference to the "Twitch Plays Pokemon" thing.
I'll let Twitch off, then. Although there's been similar (in terms of anyone in the world being able to stream from a local network) for ages (webcams, video conferencing, etc).

Ah, your "chat input" thing makes way more sense now then.

And yeah, there's been similar, but very few on this kind of scale and basically none as specifically focused on gaming as Twitch.

For example, right now there are 125k people just watching League of Legends and DoTA2

http://www.twitch.tv/directory

So that's 125k people twitch need to provide streams to.

My main worry I realised with this is that Google sees Twitch as "A WAY TO REACH GAMERS!" and shit like that, and fill it with even more advertisements and stupid bollocks than youtube.

It's basically a better version of video game commentary that was popular on Youtube, don't know if it's still popular. Never checked...

The Achievement Hunter guys still do regular episodes of all sorts of stuff. Weekly GTA V videos included.

Yeah, totally get where you're coming from. But that floor space is precious at this point! :)
