I'm pretty sure Decrepit Monolith were mentioned somewhere? Either way, they won their Newcastle heat. Good band.

I've been trying and failing hard to start a black metal band for years now. You just can't get the staff! I'd love to do something Dissection-ish, but trying to get anyone who is into that music to play to an anywhere good standard let alone actually physically show up is pretty difficult.

Re: M2TM 2017
Manchester Quarter Final 3 was last night with Lester Verde, 1968, Cresent Halo and Zebedy, my opinions are totally unchanged on these from the heats.
Lester Verde and 1968 went through to the Semis, which I can't complain about too much. 1968 I quite enjoy, and while I would have preferred to see Zebedy through over them, Lester Verde aren't bad, just a little uninspiring.
The final Quarter Final isn't for 2 weeks because Napalm Death are playing the venue next Thursday.

1968 seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment, and I've heard pretty good things about their live performances.

Only seen them once in a near empty room - they were quite good but loads of bands play in that style

CWC are a favourite of mine. I loved their set last year, and I have their eperformance as one of the best of the festival. Hopefully they'll win the Plymouth tourney this year!

Just a note to say that I saw the Sheffield winners Ba'al on Saturday, and they were fantastic. Highly recommend checking them out on the New Blood.

Re: M2TM 2017
Anyone know who won the Metal 2 The Masses in Ireland last night? I've been waiting for any of the bands to put a status up about it, but nothing yet. I've been hoping Na Cruithne win so we get some folk metal on the bill this year, and also some folk metal on the new Blood Stage for the first time since Northern Oak in 2011!

Yea, I've since found out from The Devil Wants Her Swagger Back who posted a status finally. A real shame as Na Cruithne sound brilliant and would bring some folk to the mix. Zhora don't do it for me.

Yea, these guys seem to have potential, describing themselves as Melodic Death Metal and listing influences such as Bloodshot Dawn, Scar Symmetry and Wintersun. No decent recordings to give them a proper listen though. Not that I can find, anyway.
