Hi all,
So on the y not festival in derby it got cancelled cos of rain
Any chance this happens to bloodstock, has anything close to this happened before? I know download floods more often then not, is bloodstock large enough to have preparations? Several tons of hay going spare...
Cheers

Re: Heavy rain wash out
The last time it rained really heavily was 2010 and it was muddy but nothing close to being cancelled.
Think the drainage on the site is fairly good so we should be okay

Although they in the same county Y Not and Bloodstock are in very different areas so I'm not that worried.

Yeah, 2010 was the muddiest I have ever seen BOA and although it was pretty damn muddy, it was nowhere near cancellation levels.
Current forecasts are sunny, so we shall have to wait and see.

2014 it pissed it down - iirc there was a rumour that the Sunday was nearly called off but it went ahead with opening bands playing to a near empty field. Being cold and wet meant a few of my mates gave up after Saxon and went home.

Weird I was at 2014 but dont remember it being that wet. Must have been wrecked

It was mainly overnight and mornings but the Sunday was particularly bad and rained most of the day. Ive got a photo of the Saturday and there was mud and surface water in the arena by the beer tent

I think the problem with 2014 was the wind. Remember when they were securing the TV screens and side screens? Then it calmed down.
Then again Y Not is in Buxton. That's the place where the cricket was snowed off in June.

The storm that blew through in 14 was a little wild, but things weren't to bad the next day.

The rain wasn't particularly heavy IIRC, it was just constant overnight and most of Sunday. My tent flooded... double skinned tent ever since then. Learned my lesson a bit.

Debating whether or not to invest in a poncho and wellies this year with the weather we've been having lately. I bet if I do it will be boiling all weekend lol!

Re: Heavy rain wash out
Ponchos are pretty cheap, they do them in Tesco for under £5. Wellies are a solid bet tbh, even if you don't need them this year you probably will in the future.
Re: Heavy rain wash out
Unless it pisses down solidly for a week preceeding Bloodstock, and the River Trent bursts it's banks, I can't see Bloodstock getting cancelled.
