Rock Fest Barcelona 2019

Postby bloodofthekings » Tue Jul 10, 2018 5:36 pm

4 days next year: 4th - 7th July.

Early bird tickets are 140 Euros until 15th August 2018 and they have said some bands will be announced before that date.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Manowar

So, it turns out they didn't announce any bands before the price increased on 15th August but we bought ours anyway as the gamble last year worked out pretty well given the excellent line-up we ended up getting.

Announcement today at 11am UK time.

First headliner announced - Def Leppard

I'm ok with that but tbh, if they're on the Thursday or Sunday night which means missing the last tube and having to get a taxi back to the hotel? I may opt for the tube...

Also Sonata Arctica, Rage and Thunder. Would take everyone from that bill except Def Lep at Bloodstock (don't mind them but definitely not a BS band!)

Only Demons exciting me.
Probably looking for a change this year, the four days puts me off for a start,

King Diamond, Hammerfall and ZZ Top make this considerably more interesting...

Only if you like mime artists.

Saw them three times and they are definitely not playing live on quite a few of the songs. My cousin said the same when they played Glastonbury.

The older bluesy songs are fine, it's the "hits" off albums like Eliminator that suffer.

This is a good line up for me. I'd never heard of this fest before. What's it like?

I've been going since 2015 and it's the best festival I've ever been to - to give you an idea of what it's like, this is what I wrote in the last gig/next gig thread after attending this year:

Once again, absolutely superb and this continues to be the best festival I've ever been to, without a doubt. Better than Leeds, Download, Bloodstock, Hellfest, Graspop or Wacken.

Watched more bands than I've got time to mention but particular highlights were Vixen, Dee Snider, Accept, Ozzy, Stratovarius, Helloween, Iced Earth and of course Kiss who still put in the best live show I've ever seen.

And it isn't just the line-up either (which has been great every year but particularly this year was outstanding). The weather of course is great and the location combined with how late the Barcelona metro system runs means getting there and back is really easy (only had to get a taxi 1 night), but most of all it's the organisation of the festival right down to the little things which make this really stand out over other fests I've been to:
- free programs
- fake grass mats being put down everywhere to nullify the dust issue
- bottled water only costing 1Euro
- food choices are great and reasonably priced (as is the booze - there were even people walking around with free samples of whiskey & ginger this year!).
- beer crates being left out to create extra seating (and also giving something for the shorter folk to stand on to improve their view - the missus was well happy!)
- beer people working the crowd meaning you don't have to go back to the bar and fight your way back through a busy crowd
- wristband exchanges being done a day or two in advance to ease congestion on the first day.

All in all, just a great experience.

Have a quick look on google at previous line-ups - that will give you a good idea of how the line-up usually pans out in terms of genres, etc.

Ah thanks for that. I had a quick look at the past line ups & I was quite impressed. I am interested.
