Obligatory weather topic

Postby WorMzy » Tue Jul 30, 2019 12:57 pm

Surprised this hasn't been created yet, there's normally one going about a month and a half in advance of the festival.

Accuweather's currently saying ~21°C (lows of ~14°C overnight), cloudy with showers for the weekend. Sunday looks to be the driest day atm.

BBC's predicting similar temps, but swaps the driest day to Thursday.

Met office doesn't have per-day forecasts past the next 7 days, but long range forecast suggests showers, occasionally heavy.

So it's currently looking like boots and pacamacs, rather than wellies and coats.

Won't complain about how it looks right now, could be better, could be a whole lot worse. A couple of wet spells over the weekend won't bother me.

No offense to meteorologists but predicting the weather for a small island is by their own admission near impossible so not sure why they bother this far in advance. Maybe this time Wednesday next week I'll believe them enough to decide whether to take a coat on the coach up based on their prediction...

I've never experienced rain at a festival (not as impressive as it sounds, I've only been to 3) so could be interesting if they're right. I looked at wellies for last time as my friend was scaremongering about how it always rains, couldn't find any comfy ones so didn't buy any. Can't see needing them this time either so all good. Not needing sunscreen would be even better.

I'm not surprised the thread hasn't happened yet because the weather has been mad all year...and they have got the predictions wrong except for the roasting hot day last Thursday. Bloodstock can get yukky if it rains and has turned into Mudstock a couple of times in the last 10 years I've been going...the biggest danger is dislocating your joints slipping in the mud...fingers crossed it won't get bad.

It was really bad in '10 when I rained solid all thursday and turned the midgard entrance into a swamp all weekend. But other wise it's not been bad.

As for the weather... trying to get a reliable prediction 8 days out just isn't going to happen with any kind of accuracy you can plan around. I'm gonna look at it on monday and see what the situation is.

There are various reports showing poor weather at times. It doesn't look like a mudfest but Saturday appears to be the worst day with thunder showers predicted between 3 and 7pm... sucks as Saturday is "my" main day for bands. I'll be grabbing the wetgear for Wildhearts and Cradle of Filth for sure before beating a hasty retreat before anthrax to get some cocoa and new clothes in the sanctuary of my tent.

As for the packing down, I sometimes leave on Sunday after the bands, but looking at it, seems Monday will be the better option as it will be dry and warm Monday morning so most of the gear will have had time to dry off.

Looking at Met Office this morning, it seems to be odd showers on Friday and Saturday but a mostly sunny day on Sunday.

I can live with that. Nothing that a rain poncho won't fix.

I have got some waterproof troooosers for Wildhearts and cradle too.. along with my waterproof coat... So it'll be a wet mosh but a good one.

Glad I kept the "panzer cloak" I bought off the military surplus stand last year. It's got a hood, buttons down the front, and button-up arm holes.

It'll look great for Sabaton too.

Yeah, carpark is usually fine.

It's now saying thunder storms 6am - 1pm (!) on Friday.

As long as it's not too hot and it isn't windy.

Doesn't look too bad according to the Beeb.

BBC and Met Office both saying different things at the mo. I'm not trusting any weather forecast until Friday morning, and even then there's a good chance it won't be accurate.
