It's been a long time since they were at Bloodstock I think, and even Download had them this year! They're currently touring 'Design Your Universe' in its entirety and are about to re-release the album with a bunch if bonus stuff. I can see them as a great subheadliner and they are a spectacular live band - if you don't believe me then check out the first video below!
Consign to Oblivion (live in Paris)

I do think their older songs are far better live, particularly 'Consign to Oblivion'. The live version from their Paris show a couple of years ago is incredible (link in the opening post).

Agreed, and the Paris show is something I've used on my "women in metal are rubbish" friends (I know, there are some holdouts).

Simone can't sing live, I've seen them three times and on DVD. Decent enough on album, not a band I'd see again.

She's been flawless both times I've seen Epica. You are fake news!

Seconded.
Plus, none of the metalcore gym bunnies can sing at all ! Simone wins by virtue of being able to sing even on an off day !

I disagree, their albums Design Your Universe, The Quantum Enigma and The Divine Conspiracy are some of the best symphonic metal albums and none of those 3 sound alike.
They also deserve way more than 20 minutes considering they headline the Forum often when they come to the UK and currently touring on DYU anniversary which I'd argue is one of their best albums.

Nobody gets a set that short at Bloodstock anyway, so I don't think the comment was worth taking seriously.

Re: Epica
Epica is one of the founding symphonic metal bands and f**@**** brilliant, and one of my favorites which I have seen live about 15 times. Simone Simon's
is an amazing vocalist and the rest do a great job with the growling and instrumentals.
The phantom agony is probably one of my favourite albums raw and epic. The new material is also bloody awesome.
