Not really that strange, internet message boards have been massively in decline over the last 10 years, all communication and discussion for festivals like this is done over facebook, twitter etc. The early 2000s were the peak time for message boards, since social media has taken off, no one bothers with them anymore.

Up until a couple of years ago this board was still very busy, which I'd say was unusual for a message board; it's just when they did that board change over a few years ago, it really killed any traffic there previously was.

It's not strange at all. Bloodstock actively killed off the forum with unnecessary downtime and with a hideous new look and feel a few years back. It's never been the same since. Whether that was malice or incompetence is debatable.

Most folk seem to use the official Facebook/Twitter pages or other social media these days. I still like message boards, but I'm old!

I always preferred Usenet message boards but web forums killed that the same way modern social media is killing them.

Really dont like the social media BOA sites

Facebook is full of people who have no real intention of going

A/ Tagging their mates
B/ Suggesting bands who played the year previous
C/ Suggesting Metallica, Ozzy, Maiden etc

And of course bloody stupid shit posted by the organisers

I do like these messageboard forums, some good posters and content all across it, I do reckon a lot do lurk and read because of this reason.

More apathy than malice surely? They clearly didn't give a fuck about the message board, and just changed it to something cheap and bog standard.

They'd be pleased by the result though, everyone's left, they don't need to go on here anymore, and it doesn't need to be moderated anymore.

As if to underline how dead this board is, since by post above, there has been ONE other post, in a generic gig tickets thread on the Metal Discussion board, that's one post in 16 hours.

They should just rid of this crappy board now rather than leaving in to plod along endlessly like some surreal abandoned ghost town.

But then where would we moan about the band announcements?

And also how would we survive with Gandalf The Red's opinions on everything?

It'll be tough, but I think we might just muddle through...

Personally I enjoy this forum. Keeps me up to date with rumours and announcements. More importantly I get to know about gigs going on that I wouldn't know about. I'm not very tech savvie so am unsure how I would find out about all the gigs otherwise

I'd love to say that I'm looking forward to the announcement but if the booking team don't give a toss about their festival then I'm not sure why I should.
