Currently reading David and Leigh Eddings - Polgara The Sorceress.
Redemption of Althalus was a good book and so is most of eddings work actually but does get a bit predictive.
Another good couple of author for you fantasy novel readers would be John Marco and his Eyes of God Trilogy, and Elizabeth Haydons Rhapsody Trilogy.

David Gibbins - Atlantis. (Underwater archaeologists find the real site of Atlantis. Which turns out to be in the same place as a sunken nuclear sub loaded with stolen nukes.)
This aims somewhere between DaVinci Code and the maritime adventure of Clive Cussler. Doesn't really work. Look at the above description again. It shouldn't be possible for a book with that premise to be dull but, alas, it is.
