If it was any lower, every random wee crappy venue in the country would book us... we know all too well what happens when a band plays hundreds of thousands of gigs; everyone gets bored. We much prefer playing tours, it's more fun. I'm not meaning to come across as a sellout asshole here, just stating the facts.
Though, if you have the right contacts and you're not a dick, we play for free

I actually know what the sum paid is and it's actually not so bad. it's a lot for a small rock society, but I guess not having anything else on all year means they have it. Sadly, we probably do come under "crappy wee venue"... Last year the headliner slot was Obsessive Compulsive, who were somewhere on the unsigned at Bloodstock this year. It's a big leap but hey, they wanted to do it.
Interesting facts: the amounts quoted to rocsoc for the other professional bands they approached were as follows: Paradise Lost wanted £4000, Jorn Lande €3500 and sadly there was no reply from the band the guy really wanted (and I would've loved).
What made me lol last night was the fact that no one wants to go on rocsoc committee next year, and my two mates are currently running for President and PR uncontested. (They'll be dealing with you guys *points up to Chris* on the day actually.) The lol moment was at half one, when Phil went "FUCK. I'm running for President. FUCK. WHO LET ME DO THAT?"
