Just watched: Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus.

As you can probably guess from the trailer, this is a very stupid movie. Unfortunately it's not quite cheesy enough to be entertaining. Best summed up by the words: Oh dear.

yay for monster movies!

Inspiration leads me to either watch "the Host" or watch some rubber suited godzilla movies....

I do actually want to see this. And i've only just realized that Deborah Gibson in the movie is the same Debbie Gibson who realeased the cheesy pop songs in the 80's. She was like the Britney Spears of her time.

Bought Friday the 13th (2009) and RatMan today. Not seen either, been looking forward to Fri13th for some time so will watch that first. Bought RatMan for the subtitle "He's the critter from the shitter!"

Have now watched both.
Friday the 13th - Nothing special, but a remake of a tacky horror series was never going to be anything epic. It's watchable, if only for the decent gore and deaths. Certainly not as bad as Jason X.

Ratman - I tuned in and out all the way through, but it wasn't that awful. I've certainly spent more money (paid £6 for it) on worse films.

Tonight I shall be re-watching Basket Case after a year or so away.
Then: Last House on the Left (original) and Ichi the Killer (live action). The latter being another re-watch.

Watched The Corpse Bride at the weekend - not as good as Nightmare Before Xmas, but perfectly watchable and did have some funny moments.

"Keep it down, we're in a church!" was particularly good

Had some funny bits I could spend my time better than watching a bunch of twats fight for money.

I went to see Inglourious Basterds last night and I thought it was fantastic. Tarantino's best since Pulp Fiction, in my opinion; with a particularly exceptional performance from Christoph Waltz.

I saw that today. I thought it was really good. I reckon Christoph Waltz could be in with a chance of getting an Oscar for his performance.

Saw Inglorious Bastards the other day and thought it was allright.
Lots of the technique is sort of intrusive to the story, such as the innapropriate and overly-loud soundtrack, but then I sort of think that was the pont as Tarantino thinks himself something of an Auteur and likes to tell people about it at every oppertunity. After a while I ignored it and eventually quite enjoyed it for what it was.
I liked the opening scene when the two characters ask each other if its ok if they switch to speaking english after a few sentances to make it easyer, I actually laughed out loud but not many people seemed to get the joke.
Brad Pitt was completely redundant and brought nothing to the character. Same with Mike myers, except he was actually detrimental to the role as I spent the whole scene he was in trying to work out if it was him or not A pity, because most of the performances were class.
Overall, a good take at an alternative WWII film. And dark as fuck, which is good.


Also bought Brazil and Revolutionary Road off ebay so will have a film night soon. I've seen RR before and I thought it was one of the most moving films I've ever seen, I had to really fight back the tears (and resist punching the screen, and stop grinning like a prick, etc).

Lakeview tarrace arrived in the post today and I'd completely forgot I'd bought it. So now I've got a choice of that, brazil, hard boiled or night of the living dead for tonight. Tough choice.

CLIVE BARKER'S BOOK OF BLOOD

Pretty faithful adaptation of the short story but very long-winded and with a pointless wraparound story. It's also very slowly paced, drags on in the middle and you spend a lot of time wishing it would just hurry up.
Still, I've seen a lot worse.
