That's a terrible film - half witted nonsense that's no where near as clever as it thinks it is.

Who cares if it's clever or not? It's got Tommy Lee Jones going apeshit and Robert Downey Jr in one of the best roles of his career.

Quick scores for the last 10 films I have watched. (not going to bother with made for tv or straight to dvd stuff atm)

Public Enemy - Good film, 7/10.
Harry Potter - Dull & I thought these things couldn't get any worse, 4/10.
G.I. Joe - Hahahahahahahaha, 4/10.
The Collector - If you like Saw then this is basically a Saw film with another name, 6/10.
Orphan - Not bad, kept the interest & has a decent twist, 6.5/10.
The Final Destination - As you would expect, better in 3D, 5/10.
Inglorious Basterds - Brilliant, one of the best films this year, 8.5/10.
Halloween 2 - Oh Dear, 5/10.
The Hurt Locker - Not what I expcted, but in a way I was glad because it was much better, 8/10.
District 9 - Tied for 1st place for favourite film of the year so far, simply excellent 9/10.

EDIT : Gamer - Dear Lord this is terrible. Not even the plethora of breasts helped this train wreck, but they did improve the score, 3/10.

G.I. Joe - Hahahahahahahaha, 4/10.

I saw the trailer for this and instantly knew it was going to be some of the most formulaic, awful, american tripe ever seen.

What I can't understand is why anyone PAID to see it.

I didn't pay to see it thankfully, friends in strategic places including one who is a cinema manager. :)

Even then I think I should have demanded a refund for the drink I bought.

Is The Collector a movie of the book? I love it, I'll have to look into that.
And +1 on District 9, it is SO GOOD.

Just watched a DVD i've had kicking about for ages:

Dead Or Alive.

Considering this is based on a game infamous for "Jiggle physics" you'd expect this to have all the depth of a pancake. And you'd be right. Mostly.
This is exploitation and cheese but exploitation and cheese done well. As you'd expect, the fight scenes are the core of the movie but what you might not expect is that a couple could conceivably have been slotted into "Crouching Tiger" (With a bit of a wardrobe change obviously.)
I can't really claim this as a good movie but what I can say is it that it entertained me and that's pretty much all I ask for.

If you mean the John Fowles one, there was a movie based on that done in the 60's.

But with that books overtones & real life links to serial killers etc, it doesn't surprise me that the name has been 'borrowed' precisely for the reason of association.

This Collector is different though, it's more like a Saw prequel if anything.

Is that the one with Holly Valance and Jamie Pressley? It is impossible to not watch that film without having a big grin on your face. Whether you like the film or not.
And that is scientific fact.

Just downloaded District 9, and after a whole lot of searching, the subtitles for it too. I'm going to watch that tomorrow I think.
