Just seen that Togo have been banned from the next two African Cup of Nations and fined $50000 for the heinous crime of pulling out of this year's competition after their bus was machine-gunned and several members of their party were killed or injured! Fucking ridiculous!

This does not come as any surprise because compassion and African football do not go hand in hand.
At the last world cup, Lomana Tresor Lua Lua's 18 month old son died of pneumonia and the head of the Congo team didn't tell him until after they'd been eliminated from the tournament because they didn't want his son's death to distract him from playing.

Off to Tranmere now to see what is likely to be a poor game of football and probably a scoreless draw. I love Saturdays.

If you lose I reckon Benitez will be out the door.

I don't expect you to lose though.

I doubt the owners can afford to sack him to be perfectly honest!

Not quite sure how Kyrgiakos got sent off and Pienaar didn't in the first half... and being entirely pedantic there's a good case that Fellaini should have been sent off at the same time as Kyrgiakos because he went in two-footed (and actually over the ball) in that tackle as well.

Pienaar should've gone, Mascher should've been booked for his first tackle, Felliani should have got a yellow for his part in The Greek's tackle but The Greek himself had to go. Probably up there with the worst derby games I've ever seen but these matches are never about the quality of football. It's all about the result.
So that means...

Newcastle won 5-1 last night, and now both Sunderland and Boro are losing! Not a bad weekend so far! :D
