I want them to do everything they can to get to the final. Then I will laugh as they miss the crucial penalty/miss a crucial save/score an own goal*

*delete as applicable.

In whole honesty, I would like to see them do well. Best mate is an English bast (we just insult each other consistently) and I would be happy to hear of England's victory. BUT NOT FOREVER.

If, and it's a big if, England win, the resulting media clusterfuck will last well into the next century.

Always the drawback. Half of the media hype is from 1966. If Pelé had played that World Cup, it would be safe to say we wouldnt have the star on our shirt.

He was in the 66 Brazil team.
They were rubbish and lost 2 of the 3 games they played.

Played 2 of the 3 mind, well one and three quarters.
They got knocked out 3-1 by Portugal who England beat in the semis.

Ps : We won the World Cup in 1966, did I mention that?

better to get knocked out early than for the whole country get our hopes up only to be knocked out later on

Errr, no, not really.
Did you think "Phew, I'm so glad were out of the World Cup after that close 10 - 0 defeat by Easter Island. It would have been just AWFUL to have gone to the finals!!"

 no, but it would be awful to go to the finals and lose, after getting our hopes up and thinking we had a chance. because lets face it, it'll be a long time til a british team wins the world cup

What's annoying me is that germany's chances have been through passing it up/crosses etc whilst Ghana's have been "charge at the defender and hope the ball bounces off to us!"

edit: tbf ghana are generally playing well though
