As the line-up stands, I probably won't be going to BOA this year either. I love the people and will be gutted I'll miss out on hilarious campsite shenanigans (ie. drinking a lot whilst being soaked through thanks to torrential rain) but there are just not enough bands I'm interested in on the bill to justify spending the money. Last year was a similar situation but the announcements of Devin Townsend and Twisted Sister guaranteed my presence. There was however a lot of down-time.

You don't need friends at festivals, you make em!
I'd choose Wacken over BOA though if there's a choice

Yep, you run into people at the airport and on the plane

It's almost guaranteed you'll find someone who knows someone you know, anyway.

Well, of course (providing you're flying from Blighty) - it's the teeny tiny world of UK metal, after all. Everyone seems to know everyone. It's scary.

does this mean I can't listen to The Ramones any more because Johnny Ramone never ripped out a squealing face melter and they're officially Not A Rock Band? :(

A fair amount of people who play the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games enjoy the solos as it brings some real difficulty into the game and otherwise they find it too easy, combined with the fact it's fun to try and manage the solos and they bring some variation into the game, and without them the game becomes weakened.

Should've called the game "Solo Hero" on that premise

I'm not saying they're everything to the games but they're a pretty big part

In an ideal world I'd go to BOA and MetalCamp/Wacken (lineup permitting with the latter), but right now I've not a scooby how I'll fare financially this year.

Any 2.1 that is more than £80 is you being ripped off.

The speakers I have are pretty much the same as Beardy's except it's the (now out-of-make) 2.1 version. I bought them threeish years ago for £50 and I'm yet to meet someone with better 2.1 PC speakers.

Came up with a fuckin awesome idea for a new medium for books.

DVD Books.

Dustin Hoffman sits in a big leather chair and reads a book out to you.

There'd also be Morgan Freeman special editions.
