Admittedly I'd like the recent success, he's still a twat though. I'm also a lifelong Liverpool fan so I'm genetically predisposed to hate anything and everything connected with that team from the wrong end of the M62, particularly if its name is Gary Neville. Oh, and for the record, it's not some jealousy thing because I hated them long before they became successful this time around (I remember the Man U fans chanting for Fergie to be sacked) and I'll still hate them after their success stops.

However, I'm not gonna be pulled into a tribal mutual hatefest I have a lot of respect for Liverpool's history and the Prem will be all the better for having LFC back as genuine title challengers Dalglish is the right man for the job. All we need now is to have the Special One back next season!

I hated them long before they became successful this time around (I remember the Man U fans chanting for Fergie to be sacked) and I'll still hate them after their success stops.

Everyone would like their club to be successful, I'm in the lucky position that mine has been more successful than most. I've also seen more than my share of false dawns but it doesn't stop me wanting to see us recapturing that success. I'll hate Man U until the day I die regardless of any success they have now or may (or may not) have in the future.

There's certainly a lot more optimism about the city since King Kenny came back, the team with Aldridge, Barnes and Beardsley he built first time around was one of the best to watch I've ever seen and I hope he becomes the full-time manager - and that these new owners don't turn out to be the same as the previous American gobshites!

John W Henry is a completely different kettle of fish Hicks will fail in his latest legal battle against Broughton, RBS and NESV/FSG over the sale of the club, Dalglish will be made full time manager and Liverpool will rebuild the team and the Stadium of that I've no doubt. The problem will be competing against the likes of Sheikh Mansour, Abramovich and, if the rumours over United's future owners are true, Quatar Holdings. Tbh I'm sick of all the money ruining the game and the appalling behaviour of so many top flight footballers. I enjoy watching a good game of footie but its gone beyond ridiculous in these last couple of years, nobody is worth £200-250k a week ffs! Hopefully the new financial regulations will bring a modicum of sanity back to the game but I can see the rules being subverted by people like Abramovich.

I can't see anything happening with these new rules to be honest. Chelsea announced a £70million loss and then went out and spent more than that the same afternoon on deadline day - and this from a club that were adamant they were going to be running at a profit by this year!

I just wonder if Torres is supposedly worth £50million then what would Kenny in his pomp cost these days?!

What makes you think he's going to retire?

He has said himself that he planned on retiring in 2002, and then again in 2008 or so, before changing his mind. Interestingly, this has had some unexpected consequences. The bookies started taking bets on the next Man U manager. But because he didn't retire, those bets are still open. Some bookies then struggled because their software wasn't designed to cope with such long running bets

I also agree Daglish has really inspired something in the team and did what was needed in the transfer market something Hodgson never had a chance to do. But I can see Kenny staying on seems like he's enjoying it too much to walk away again.

I'll tell you what stupid money is. £35m for a player who has played half a premiership season, scored 14 goals and only had 1 England cap. And he hasn't even had his debut yet as he has a torn thigh muscle.

If you just look at the amount of money spent then yes but actually what LFC did was ship out an unhappy and badly out of form player who was part of a Spanish clique in the dressing room who were causing unrest in exchange for two new and young players one of them an England International and they always come at a premium because of the maximum foreigners rule that will come into force in the future. Carrol gives Dalglish a type of player up front that Liverpool havent had for many years, a goalscorer who can play with his back to goal, hold up the ball and bring other players into the game. (Heskey couldn't do both) Suarez, Meireles, Rodriguez, Gerrard and Kuyt will all benefit. He adds an aerial presence from set pieces too. If hes fit for the United game I wouldn't be surprised if Vidic is sent off again

As a reality check following my trip to see Huddersfield at the Emirates, last night I went to see them at Dagenham & Redbridge!

Certainly not a classic but we did meet Huddersfield's most famous fan Sir Patrick Stewart at half time. Fair play that he wasn't lording it up with the directors, but was in the away end, with a baseball hat on keeping a low profile. Happily had a chat with us about the game.
